FAQ

How far do you travel for face-to-face sessions?

This varies depending on whether I have current students near a requested location and timings that can dovetail. As a guide, I can deliver face-to-face sessions in an catchment of villages from (north to south) Huntingdon to Biggleswade and (east to west) Bedford to Cambridge. I am based in St Neots. Please note that my fee will reflect travel expenses.

Are you experienced with SEND?

Yes. I have successfully taught students with selective mutism, ASD, ADHD, ADD, ODD, SEMH, dyslexia, poor working memory, moderate learning difficulties, and who benefit from a variety of exam adjustments.

What is your teaching style?

If your son/daughter is quiet, I can talk for the both of us! My teaching style is lively, good-humoured, sometimes active if appropriate, and tenacious regarding securing your child's understanding. My pace will be set by the student, not me, but I will offer challenge if I sense any underachievement.

What happens in an online session if the signal fails?

I have a very capable broadband, but that's not to say that internet connectivity will always be plain sailing! If the effectiveness of a session is compromised, I will abandon it and offer extra time in the next session.

Do you offer refunds if my child underperforms?

No! However, I've worked extensively with students who have needed to reframe their expectations and goals following unexpected results. From ordering the return of exam scripts to considering a review of marking to organising re-sits to accepting the idea of a gap year... it helps to consider options and have a plan.
